Listen for a dial tone

1. On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2. Double-click the Modems icon.

3. On the General tab, select the modem you are using, and then click Properties.

4. If the Speaker volume option is available, make sure it is not set to Low.

5. Click OK, and then click Close.

6. In the dialing error screen, click Next.
